Photographing Kyle and Vera’s wedding was an incredibly fun and memorable experience. Not only did everything fall into place perfectly with the weather and lighting, but being able to be a small part of their story is very cool. Much of Vera’s family spoke only Russian and it’s always fun to watch the meeting of cultures/ families that happens so often at weddings. Some of the scriptures read at the ceremony, and many of the speeches and songs that took place at the reception were either done in Russian or were accompanied by a translator… I thought it was incredible how similar the types of complements, bits of advice, and chosen scriptures were to the “typical” wedding that we’ve been to. I put quotes around typical because if you’ve visited our wedding photography website and portfolio you’ll notice most weddings aren’t typical 🙂 But still it was very fun to see how many bits of the human experience transcend cultural boundaries.
Some of my favorite photos from the day were those of Vera’s dress and veil blowing in the wind before the ceremony. … I am tempted to photo-shop in a rocky ocean cost and a sunset 😉
It seemed that while we were outside doing photos the wind wouldn’t blow when we wanted it to… but wouldn’t stop blowing and swirling when we wanted the veil to “just settle down!” .
The wind (when it was cooperating) and the soft afternoon november sunlight made it possible to photograph in a way that I think really captures the mood of the day…
Enjoy!
