We really had an incredible time photographing Vera and Kyle’s wedding. Not only did everything work out perfectly with the lighting and the weather, but it’s really cool to be a small part of their wedding story. Vera’s family was Russian, and many of them did not speak English, so it was actually really fun to witness the meeting of two different cultures and families that seems to always happen at weddings. Much of the scriptures, speeches, and songs read or performed at the ceremony were done in Russian, and I really found it fascinating that so many of the pieces of advice and complements were so similar to the “typical” wedding we shoot. And if you visit our wedding photography website and portfolio, you’ll see that most are not typical! Still, it was very interesting and fun to witness how much of the human experience is beyond cultural boundaries.
My favorite shots from the wedding were Vera’s veil and dress blowing in the wind… Wouldn’t a rocky ocean coast and sunset look great in the background of those? Actually, the wind seemed to always do the opposite of what we wanted it to do, but when it did cooperate, the light from the soft afternoon November sun allowed us to come away with some pictures that really perfectly capture the day’s mood…
