Karin and I had a really great New Years at the St. Paul hotel with Khia and Courtney. This was a fun, although sometimes challenging location to work with, and there were people everywhere. They had two boys who were very funny, and were running around every chance they got – though they did do a good job keeping still for the formal shots. Khia wanted to do some outdoor shots (despite it being several degrees below zero outside!) at Rice Park in St. Paul. At first it was not too bad since it was pretty hot inside the hotel, but by the time we made it to the park it was COLD! Welcome to Minnesota.
This was actually the very first wedding that Karin I had done with 100% artificial light. We definitely prefer natural light, but it’s good to know that when we presented with the challenge, we’re able to do it. Though, we had shot a wedding entirely in a hotel, which was at the Embassy Suites in Bloomington, earlier in the summer. You can check out the pictures from that wedding in our wedding photography galleries on our website. It’s really nice to have the ceremony and the reception in the same spot, and for a New Years Eve wedding this really worked out great.
