Engaged: Tyler and Amanda | Las Cruces, New Mexico

So growing up in a Military family, (Scott talking here), I was able to see and live in many different states, including a year over in Deutschland( aka Germany). And I enjoyed it. I never will complain about all the various cultures and sites I was able to encounter. However with all that traveling, I have never made it Southwest of Colorado. So, when mis hermanos called me up to tell me he got engaged and that they wanted to fly me out to New Mexico to shoot their engagement photos, I was pretty stoked. Not only would I get a chance to shoot in a different environment, but this also meant that I would be able to get in a few rounds of golf with Tyler when I was out there.

My brother just graduated from NMSU with his PGA management degree (or something like that), and he said if I wanted to come out early we could golf a bunch of courses. If you know me, I’m quite addicted to golf. And this early spring in Minnesota didn’t help my addiction. I may need an intervention soon!! So last week, I flew out early and Tyler and I hit up the courses. I think we played, no joke, 90 holes of golf in three days. And if I had more time, I probably would have golfed 90 more. It was a grand time, and I’m glad I was able to make it out there.

Enjoy some of these photos! I love the pics, and the couple! Welcome to the future-Muhs-family, Amanda. Hannah and I are so excited to call you family!!

PS. I love Southwest!! First time flying, I got two bags free and they allowed me to change flight dates FOOOH FREE!!!

You lucky dog Tyler!!

A little bit of true Tyler coming out for the camera.

While at NMSU, they were both geeks! I meant Greeks!

A little golf lesson? Why not!

Engaged: Joe and Shannon | Stillwater, MN

Lovely people make lovely times.

Another beautiful couple met up with us in Stillwater. I know we have posted shoots there before, but its just a cute quaint little town, and couples are attracted to its age and beauty. You got the river, old downtown, bluffs, boats, and lovers. Joe serves in the United States Air Force, and while he is stationed over in South Carolina, he found time to come back to his bride-to-be, Shannon,  in Minnesota for a handful of days. Fun, easy going, and full of laughter were these two. It made it so easy for Hannah and I to hang out with these guys.

Another amazing couple we are excited to shoot this summer!

Joe and Shannon, you guys rock! We can’t wait for the wedding!!

Friends Matter

Going through life is difficult. Doing it alone, even more so. This past week I was reminded of something that I have taken for granted in the past few years but has been quite evident if I recollect how far I (and we in this case) have come. Here it is plain and simple: Surround yourself with people who encourage you and in whom you find much Joy.

Life can be busy for Hannah and I (more so in the warmer months, then colder), but none the less, there are times when you need to just escape from life. Retreat from busyness, stress, work, neighbors, pets, laundry, media, routine. This is one thing Hannah and I feel we haven’t done enough of. Getting out side, away from the concrete jungles we live in. And it’s something we are wanting to do more of. So we headed up north for a week. Way north. Almost canadian border north. And spent some time on Lake Superior, (which I’m convinced is not a lake, but instead a mini-ocean, minus the salt, lobsters, and tropical storms). We took in a few days of Lutsen Mountain, and enjoyed being surrounded by nothing. And while it was amazing to just get away, what I found even more virtuous, is being surrounded by people who love on me. We went with our good friends Jeremie and Danielle, whom we have known since college. There is priceless emotions that awake when embraced by people you need not to keep your walls up to. People who enjoy you for you. Who encourage you in all aspects of your life. Who open up to vulnerabilities. They don’t need to share all interests in common, and can still find reasons to fellowship together. And as I sifted through pictures of this last week up north, I was only reminded of how important quality friends are in the journey of life. I don’t think, actually I know, Hannah and I wouldn’t be where we are in our marriage and our photography if it wasn’t for people who care for our best interests. People who have decided to invest in our success. Who push us to climb the mountains. Escape doubt. And run with happiness. While only stopping to help others back up and to carry on as well. We surround ourselves with people we count on. For we know that going in alone, is dangerous.

I’ll leave you with this.

“Communion is strength; solitude is weakness. Alone, the fine old beech yields to the blast and lies prone on the meadow. In the forest, supporting each other, the trees laugh at the hurricane.” -Charles Spurgeon

Here are some pictures we took this past week.

Meet Jeremie and Danielle!

Engaged: Kyle and Samantha!! Stillwater, MN

Winter. What winter?

A 40 degree engagement shoot at the end of February? We’ll take it.

We met up with the fantastic Kyle and Samantha in downtown Stillwater. If you live in Minnesota, and haven’t visited Stillwater, it’s definitely a nice day trip. Especially in the warmer months where you can walk around downtown. Cute shops, fun pubs, variety of restaurants and coffee shops. And you’re right on the river. Very pretty.

Kyle and Samantha live in Madison, WI and are getting married in the Cities this fall. So while they were in town for the weekend, we found time to get together and do a fun engagement shoot.

These two are such a cute couple. What a joy to hang out with! Oh, and they brought their cute Great Dane puppy along. We snapped a couple shots of him. Yea, thats right. I said puppy, 7 months old. And he’s suppose to double in size. Gosh, he was such a stud! And so cute!

Thanks Kyle and Samantha! We are SOO looking forward to your wedding this year!!

These were my favorite shots of the day! I love some good sun flare!
