I am not sure that any words I can type could fully describe James, Ruthie and their wedding day.

I mean I could… But it might be a novel! Their day was filled with so many surprises, events and wonderful hats that I don’t even know where to being!
So I guess starting at the beginning would be appropriate ; )

Meaning, when we first met them.. This took place just under a year from their wedding – so early September last year. They were in town taking care of wedding plans all the way from New York {Oh, and most importantly to go to the State Fair, which later you’ll see is one of Ruthie’s favorite places} : )
We loved them from the get go! They are just dearly in love and so full of life! Ruthie is an extraordinary singer, dancer performer you name it! She’s gonna be big – you watch it : )

Anyways – meeting them was such and joy as was hearing about their wedding nuptuals. Date: August 27th, 2011. Place: Rice Park and James J Hill Library, St Paul. Destination: STATE FAIR. Their vision was grand and we were SO excited when they chose us to photograph their day : ) I, personally, was reeeeally looking forward to their Rock the Dress session at the State Fair : ) Many thanks to Ruthie’s dear friend Lindsay who is a photographer in New York for highly recommending us to Ruthie : )

So one year passed {quickly!} and the day came. The weather held out for us {only a few sprinkles here and there!} and we got some great shots out at Rice Park ahead of time and their ceremony was beautiful. So full of love!

They had a wonderful champagne hour out on the lawn with a greeting from James before heading into the Library for more pictures, wonderful food and probably the most amazing dance I have been to, to date.

You may have noticed a picture of Ruthie getting ready doing a weird dance or something….. and yes… this was done later. After their beautifully choreographed quick-paced first dance together there was a FLASH MOB.

Yes folks. You’da-thunk Lady Gaga was there herself that is how amazing they all were!
Not only that – but later there was a dance off between the best man and man of honor.

It.was.amazing.

We love you two.

Nuf said.

Oh wait – some extra special things I loved about their day:
Her shoes….. watch out! amazing
Her engagement ring – check out that beautiful bling!
The rose petals – anyone that ever wanted to be a flower girl when there were little but didn’t get to be for whatever reason got to throw out the rose petals that lined Ruthie’s isle : )
The CAKE! Top layer: Liverpool Skyline {where James is from} middle: Minneapolis Skyline {where Ruthie is from} bottom: New York Skyline {where they live now} AMAZING!
The toasts….. boy where they phenomenal!
The song: Ruthie also sang during the dance to James as {part of} his wedding gift : )
Obviously… the dancing
and last – but certainly not least! Sweet Martha’s with milk shooters as a late night SNACK!

Love it : )

Summer of 2013 we had had the opportunity to shoot here again so if you’re looking for more photos of a James J Hill Library wedding be sure to check out this more recent blog post.
